Becoming; a never ending journey of self-Development

Becoming; a never ending journey of self-Development

Most Peoples approach to life is one of achievement.

They usually say If only x happens then I'll be happy or feel complete. Then what? after achieving your goal what happens next? This is the big question many face after achieving their goals, Some even describe it as feeling empty or having no motivation. This is one of the biggest challenges people face after achieving their goal.

I don't dispute the immense advantages goals can have in your life such as knowing what to do and when to do it or focusing your energy to a certain cause, which are all great however the problem arises when you view it as the finale or the end game.

Rather than looking at goals as a final destination what if you looked at them as check points to a never ending journey.

This takes the approach of setting goals as an opportunity have an infinite and limitless growth rather than an end. You set each goal not as an individual attainment but a collection of parts that you use to build your character along the way.

This method still incorporates goal but they serve a completely different purpose.

Say for example you have a goal to become a proficient programmer, along the journey you will encounter complex concepts which you'll have to learn and advanced problems to solve however once you attain your goal you'll have drastically improved your problem solving skills along with the ability to break down complex topics and understand them quickly.

This is evident with the Youtuber Colin Galen who is one of the worlds best competitive programmer with notable achievements in the programming space, He was able to quickly learn complex topics and use them in the coding tournaments which enabled him to win. Along the journey he learnt "how hack his brain" to learn these topics which he now explains to his audience on YouTube. This is only one example of how setting goals can help you improve your self and learn new skills along the way.

Key takeaway

Each goal you set for yourself not only allows you to achieve it but also enables you to build character and learn skills which you'll use long after attaining it.
